Thomas Bach, the President of IOC, spoke with Ms Peng on Sunday for 30 minutes

According to the Women’s Tennis Association, a conversation between Peng Shuai (the president of the International Olympic Committee) does not resolve its concern about the wellbeing of the Chinese tennis player.

Following the call, an IOC statement said Peng was safe and well.

Peng, aged 35, vanished from public view for nearly three weeks after she made allegations of sexual assault against a Chinese minister.

Widespread international concern was raised by her disappearance.

China was urged by governments and sports stars to show their safety.

Chinese state media published a number of photos and videos showing all seemed well following the controversy surrounding the disappearance of tennis superstar Venus Tennis.

After a conference call between Thomas Bach, IOC President and three-time Olympian, Sunday’s statement was released by the IOC.

Peng said that she had “thanked IOC” for its concern over her wellbeing.
